WERE you one of the lucky ones to see Santa on his brightly lit sleigh?

Burley-in-Wharfedale Scouts and Guides raised a fantastic £1,580 towards their fundraising project for new headquarters when they toured the village with the Santa Sleigh.

The cold weather produced a realistic feel for the leaders, parents and members giving the local residents the opportunity to see Santa. This has become a fantastic tradition and is very popular with adults and children alike.

Rainbow leader Helen Haskins said: "It was great to see the happy children waiting up to see Santa. They came out in their PJs to give him their letters, hopefully making their wishes come true."

Helen added: "The team would like to thank everybody for their generous donations. They also want to let you know they have started phase one of their new build and the walls of the new hut are now shoulder height. This collection will be going towards the roofing tiles. They would love to hear from anyone with time and talents to help them with phase two - the plastering and fitting out of the building. Please contact me, Helen Haskins if you are a skilled tradesman or could donate any materials -email: helenhaskins2013@gmail.com. We would also love to hear from you if you could help with match funding."
