MEMBERS of the 5th Ilkley Brownies and Christchurch Beavers teamed up this winter in a bid to help homeless people in Leeds.

The brownies and beavers collected items to make up 90 blessing bags to deliver to St George's Crypt in the city. They will be given out to homeless people using the shelter around Christmas time.

Brownie Leader Ally Foster said: "The bags contained useful items such as socks, tissues, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as treats such as chocolates and sweets."

St George's Cyrpt is a charity in Leeds, working with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from addiction. The charity aims to meet the basic needs of everyone in a safe, non-judgmental and caring environment and support people who are living on the streets into finding accommodation.

They also help people gain skills and confidence so that they can take an active role in their futures.
