IT will be a case of 'hair today, gone tomorrow' for Otley resident Zoë Gibson this weekend.

The 25 year old will say goodbye to what she describes as her 'favourite accessory' when she has her head shaved for charity on Saturday, December 16.

Zoë, who works for Otley-based print management firm JPS Limited, will be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust - which provides real hair wigs for children coping with cancer and conditions like alopecia.

She is also aiming to raise £1,000 in sponsorship for Candlelighters, a Yorkshire charity which supports families facing children's cancer.

She said: "I’ve been thinking about doing this a while.

"It’s shocked some people, but mostly they think I’m being brave.

"I’m not too sure that there is anything brave about it - it’s just hair to me, but I know it will mean a lot to the charities I’m supporting."

Zoë can be supported online at virginmoneygiving.com/zoegibson , where she talks more about her decision to lose her locks.

She says: "I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now and I just realised there is no time like the present!

"Those of you who know me know that my hair is part of my personality, it is probably my favourite accessory and has been all the colours.

"So I think waking up with none will be quite the shock for a while."

She added: "I’ve perhaps decided to shave my hair off at a silly time in the year.

"Summer would have been perhaps better, but I’m excited to do it, raise lots of money and help these two charities - I’ll just buy lots of hats!"
