“Born in a stable, laid in a manger”, the Christmas story is well known and well loved and it is a story being told at Ben Rhydding Methodist Church in a Festival of Cribs starting today, Thursday, December 14.

Crib scenes over the years have been made in all shapes, sizes and styles and church members, friends and businesses have rallied round to provide a fascinating selection, some hand-crafted, some traditional, some modern, some foreign, some interactive and even some that are edible.

There are school visits, a special opportunity for children to come and make their own nativity on Saturday afternoon and the Crib Café will be serving drinks, mince pies and biscuits every day during public viewing.

Viewing starts today from noon to 5pm and continues on Friday from 11am. to 5pm and Saturday from 11am to 4pm. The Festival culminates in a Family Crib Service on Sunday at 4pm when all are welcome and children can come dressed as their favourite nativity character.
