THE outstanding GCSE results of St. Mary’s, Menston were this week celebrated at the annual Year 11 Celebration of Achievement Evening. The school recorded excellent GCSE results with students of all abilities making outstanding progress,

St. Mary’s were delighted to welcome their Guest of Honour on the evening, Charlotte Leeming, Presenter and Reporter at BBC Look North. Charlotte presented GCSE certificates and Subject Awards. The evening was one of celebration where the community shared in the achievements of St. Mary’s students.

English Language, Benedict Mangeolles; English Literature, Tahlia Griffiths; Food Technology, Callum Dunne; French, Benjamin Clarke; Geography, Joshua Normington; German, Emilia Corkery; Health & Social, Niamh Currie; History, Sylvia Cullen; Mathematics, Aidan Joyce; Media Studies, Emily Gamble; Music, Kathryn Bradley; PE, Erin White; Performing Arts, Declan Jowett; Product Design, Rhianna Wowk; Religious Education, Jude McShee; Science, Charlie Houlders; Separate Sciences, Laurence Walsh Gill; Sports Studies, Mackenzie Flint; Textiles, Emma Dawson; Travel and Tourism, Maisie Hudson.

Special prizes were also awarded: Highest Points Score at GCSE, Dhugal Sandground; Highest Average Points Score at GCSE, Francis Westhead; Greatest Progress from KS2 to GCSE, Cerys McCormick; Conduct Cup, More; Attendance Shield, Gwyn; Aireborough Rotary Service Above Self, Grace Middleton; Michelle Stott Memorial Award for PE, Rhianne Shaw; Martin Green Memorial Award for Excellence in Rugby, Jack Hamilton; Erin’s Gift , Katie Lynn; The Sue Hope Award for ‘Living Out the Word’, Chloe Grace.

Music on the evening was provided by Kathryn Bradley, Sylvia Cullen and Aidan Joyce.

Headteacher, Mr Darren Beardsley said: “Events such as this provide opportunity to thank the school community; parents, students, staff and Governors for the contribution they make to St Mary’s. I was delighted to see so many students recognised for their splendid achievements spanning a wide range of school life.
