THIS week is Guide Dogs week when fundraising staff and volunteers go into overdrive to raise much needed funds to support the life changing Guide Dogs service.

The Ilkley fundraising branch of Guide Dogs will be holding a coffee morning in St Mary’s Parish Centre in Burley-in-Wharfedale as well as a street collection in Ilkley.

Andrew Barton, co-ordinator of the Ilkley Guide Dogs fundraising branch said: “We would welcome anyone who wants to come along and give us a hand either at the coffee morning or at the street collection. If anyone could spare an hour or so to help serve at the coffee morning, or to hold a bucket for the street collection we would be most grateful. Guide Dogs do fantastic work training dogs to provide mobility and independence to people with sight loss, and they rely on public donations and collections to support this life changing service.”

The coffee morning will be at St Mary’s Parish Centre, 43, Station Road, Burley in Wharfedale, LS29 7NE on Saturday, October 14 from 9.30am to 11.30am and the street collection is on Saturday, October 21 from 10am to 4pm.
