ILKLEY'S Outside the Box has received hundreds of pounds from a fund-raising drive to Spain.

The community cafe was presented with a cheque for £750 from Ian Kirby and Robert Hodgson who took part in the four-day, 1,500 mile Benidorm or Bust challenge.

More than 200 teams took part, and Ian and Rob, who were also raising money for Candlelighters, made the journey in a £300 old banger.

"We decided to raise funds for two charities that we think are doing great work - Outside the Box that supports people with a learning disability and Candlelighters, who help the families of children with cancer," Ian said. "It was a great experience and we would highly recommend it as a fun and challenging way to fundraise."

Outside the Box, run by the charity Ilkley Community Enterprise Ltd, supports adults and young people with a learning disability to lead more independent and fulfilled lives by providing structured work experience and training. Outside the Box Arthouse operates alongside the cafe offering creative and support activities including arts, crafts, music, sports, photography, drama and independent living training.

Jenna Peel, for Outside the Box, said: "We were delighted to be chosen as one of the recipient charities by Ian and Rob and thrilled that they have been so successful in their Benidorm fundraising adventure. Their donation will help us to continue to develop and deliver much-needed services for adults and young people with a learning disability here in Ilkley."
