ILKLEY Youth and Community Association has announced the start of their Summer of Fun in Ilkley with the first two events taking place in June.

Starting off with indoor climbing and a martial arts master class in Taekwondo and kick boxing, this summer will have something for everyone.

Next month sees the start of a whole series of outdoor activities in Riverside Park which includes a visit by the Army in August. The summer activities will wrap up with a walk from the Cavendish Pavilion to the Warehouse in Ilkley where the Youth Club will host a Community Barbecue.

Already organised are two sessions of indoor climbing, two sessions of martial arts, two tennis coaching classes and two street dancing classes, with more to be arranged. The outdoor activities will include football, cricket, rounders and dodgeball.

As this is the first year these activities have been arranged, some will be numbers limited and are only available on a pre booked, first come first served basis. There are no age restrictions, however participants must make their own way to and from the venues.

The first activity is indoor climbing which will be held at 4pm on Tuesday June 27. Call 07544 136921 to book your place and to learn where to meet for the activity. You will need to give your name, address, age, and contact phone number. Likewise for the second event which is a master class in martial arts including Taekwondo and kick boxing. This will be on the afternoon of Thursday, June 29 from 2pm to 4pm. Again, please call 07544 136921 to book your place as well as to learn where the activity will take place.

This first summer of fun, organised by Ilkley Youth and Community Association, is sponsored by Ilkley Parish Council, The Keighley Area Committee and the Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale without whose generous support these activities could not take place.
