THE next Care and Wellbeing Café for older members of the community takes place at St John's Parish Church, Bolling Road, Ben Rhydding, on Monday, June 19 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

This month it will feature vintage singer Kitty Lamare who specialises in music from the 1940s and 1950s and has an extensive song catalogue.

The aim of the Café is to promote social inclusion and prevent the social isolation of older people by enabling contact and friendship with others. In addition it provides access, advice and information in relation to other services including community activities, physical and mental health and emotional wellbeing. The Café provides entertainment and refreshments as well as a wide range of support and advice for older people and their carers. It is supported by a number of organisations including Creative Support, The Ilkley Moor Medical Practice, Age UK and has the support of a team of volunteers from St Johns Parish Church, as well as the wider community.

Emma Garvey, healthcare assistant from the Ilkley Moor Medical Practice will be on hand to provide advice and assistance in relation to health care as well as carry out low level health checks such as blood pressure and diabetes checks.

Andrea Pickersgill, of Creative Support said: "We aim to provide not only a happy, uplifting afternoon for the more senior members of our community but also provide easy access to other services.

"I feel sure we’ll have another brilliant afternoon on Monday. There is no need to book, just feel free to come along and join us at St John's Church Hall where you may be assured of a warm welcome."

The sessions take place on the third Monday of each month, including July 17, August 21 and September 18.
