POLITICAL opponents in the Pudsey constituency have joined forces to condemn the terror attack in Manchester.

The General Election candidates from across the political spectrum have issued a joint statement in the wake of the bombing which left 22 people dead and 59 injured.

Conservative Stuart Andrew, Labour and Cooperative candidate Ian McCargo, Liberal Democrat Allen Nixon and Independent Anti Corruption candidate Michael Wharton have also suspended campaigning as a mark of respect.

They say: "As candidates in the General Election for the Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough constituency, we have come together to offer our condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of the horrific attack in Manchester last night.

"This senseless attack on ordinary people who were going about their business on a Monday evening is condemned by all of us.

"We offer our thanks to the emergency services and others for their sterling work and bravery in trying to help so many victims.

"As a mark of respect, we have suspended campaigning in the election until further notice."
