A BROTHER and sister from Ilkley have raised thousands for charity by completing the London Marathon.

Tim Wellings and Sophie Wilson took on the Sunday, April 23 race for a cause very close to their hearts - the Meningitis Research Foundation.

Twenty nine year old personal trainer and actor Tim contracted bacterial meningitis and septicaemia when he was just six months old, and needed weeks of intensive care.

The pair's marathon effort has raised £11,817 so far - £14,248 including Gift Aid - in sponsorship for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

More information about meningitis, meanwhile, can be found at meningitis.org or by calling the charity's free helpline on 080 8800 3344.
