ILKLEY business Johnny Tuxedo will be suiting and booting students at the town's grammar school ahead of the annual summer ball - and giving boys a tie-it-yourself masterclass on bow ties.

Johnny Tuxedo, which has premises in Bolling Road, will descend on Ilkley Grammar School on April 5 to provide a bespoke fitting service to the Year 11 boys.

With few teenage boys understanding of their suit size, the talented tailors at Johnny Tuxedo will be on hand to provide them with their exact measurements as well as providing the students with as insight into the world of dapper dressing.

Not only will the day educate the boys in the art of tailoring, Johnny Tuxedo will also let the students take over their social media for the day, giving them real life experience of working with a fashion brand.

Johnny Tuxedo was founded by Austen Pickles, who runs tailoring company Buxton Pickles, to meet demand for the best of British tailoring updated with a sharp, modern fit available at an affordable price.

The brand operates from offices and a design studio in Ilkley where everything is done in-house from designing the suits and cutting the patterns to testing the fabric and specifying the thread counts.

Austen is passionate about supporting the local community and particularly about ensuring that the teenagers of Yorkshire are looking their best for one of the most memorable nights of their school life.

“Proms and summer balls have become a landmark date in anyone’s life and it is something they look forward to enjoying after years of hard work,” said Austen.

“The boys of Ilkley Grammar School deserve a night to remember but they don’t want to look like their dads so it’s important they have a dinner suit which has been designed with them in mind. They need to look their best.

“A lot of emphasis is put on girls investing huge amounts of time into researching and trying on dresses in order to find their dream gown and the boys are often left overlooked based on the assumption they are simply not interested. This is clearly not the case.”
