THE Woodhouse Grove School U14 VII team have won the Sedbergh Cup, following an undefeated run in the competition.
The U14 VII Rugby Sevens team from Woodhouse Grove School, based in Apperley Bridge, kicked off the Rugby Sevens season in style at the Sedbergh Cup on February 4, 2017.
The Woodhouse Grove team went undefeated throughout the day, winning in the Group Stage against Kirkham Grammar School 33-10, Durham School 31-5, Ampleforth College 34-0 and Royal Grammar School Newcastle 29-0.
Woodhouse Grove then went on to face hosts Sedbergh in the Cup Final, winning the event with a fully deserved 24-10 victory.
Roger Howard, Woodhouse Grove School Director of Sport, said: βAt Woodhouse Grove we offer a broad range of sporting opportunities to our pupils. The U14 VIIs thoroughly deserve their victory, having demonstrated great commitment and resilience during training. Their hard work has paid off and they should be as proud of their achievement as we are of them.β
