CELEBRATING the completion of the next phase in their ambitious development plan, Westville House in Ilkley unveiled the new Library and Media suite to parents and visitors during the recent open morning.

Fun and excitement for children was very much the theme with a farm for children, a straw maze to get lost in and pony rides on the sports field.

So whilst children enjoyed the outdoor farm full of lambs, calves, goats, pigs, ponies, donkeys, alpacas and even a five day old baby goat, parents toured the newly finished Library and Media Suite which also follows an animal theme with the Gruffalo very much in evidence. I

Headmaster Mr Ian Shuttleworth said: “The Media Suite was all about creating a spark in a child’s imagination so that reading becomes the most exciting thing to do. We have beautiful shelves lined with hundreds of books with something for every child. The link with reading and research is so important for a child - the specialist lap top stations and iPad stations undoubtedly help to fuel a child imagination. The library is state of the art with beautiful views across to the Cow and Calf. You cannot help but feel inspired."

The Reception children, along with a little help from some adults, had built an huge dinosaur which was roaming free in the woodland, and the nursery children, who have been carefully watching a batch of eggs, had their patience rewarded with the hatching of all the eggs in time for the Springwatch morning.
