A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road accident at Otley.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Gay Lane and East Chevin Road just after 10am on Friday, February 24 to reports of a cyclist being injured in a collision with a car.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team and a Yorkshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

The man, in his 50s, had suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Leeds General Inifirmary.

Paramedics from the air ambulance are understood to have joined the land ambulance crew on the journey to assist.

East Chevin Road, along with parts of Leeds Road and Fairfax Street, were closed for several hours to allow investigations by West Yorkshire Police to take place but have now been re-opened.
