A CHEQUE for £150, raised earlier in the year by Meadowlea Childrens’ Home in Ilkley, was presented to the Ilkley Branch of Guide Dogs just before Christmas.

The money was raised at their Spring Fair, from the sale of various garden products made by the children. Andrew Musgrave, Assistant Unit Manager (Acting) said: “Meadowlea has supported several charities over the last few years, including Yorkshire Cat Rescue, Menston in Bloom, an orphanage in Madagascar, and not forgetting Guide Dogs. The children love meeting the guide dog pups and our local branch of Guide Dogs in Ilkley has always been very supportive of us. So when we asked the children who they wanted to support again, they asked to help Guide Dogs. They've all worked really hard to learn new skills and created a wide range of popular garden products that help the environment as well as looking good."

Andrew Barton a member of the Ilkley and District Guide Dogs Fundraising Group said: “There were about ten stalls of wonderful garden products and we had a really good time with the children. We are really grateful to them for choosing Guide Dogs as their charity to support.”
