MP KRIS Hopkins visited local businesses in Ilkley last weekend as part of Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Mr Hopkins said: “It is vital to support our small businesses as they form an essential part of the community and bring our high streets alive. We have a large number of independent and unique businesses across the constituency providing excellent customer service, great products and offering real support to local residents.
“Small Business Saturday gives us an opportunity to celebrate that partnership and for businesses and customers to show each other support, whilst recognising the need for patronage throughout the year.”
The Keighley and Ilkley MP added: “It was a pleasure to meet with business owners in Ilkley last Saturday and also to see the town’s Christmas preparations in full swing.”
Local business owner David Witt of Annings - The Camera Shop said: “It was very nice to seek Kris out and about on Saturday supporting local businesses.
“It is important people, particularly in a place like Ilkley, do appreciate the small independent specialist retailer – it really is as simple as use it or lose it.
“As a small business we are able to build and enjoy a proper relationship with our customers. We go over and beyond in our service, so much more than just a simple transaction, and yet are still able to remain competitive in terms of our pricing and products.”
