A MAGICIAN is to wow the crowds at Burley-in-Wharfedale’s Christmas market and lights switch-on this Saturday [3 December].

Chris Stewart of Close Up Magic is to make his debut at the village’s 14th annual street market from 2pm to 5.30pm on Main Street and in Grange Park.

As well as stalls selling artisan foods, gifts and toys, the Burley and District Chamber of Trade (BADCOT) has organized a steam engine and fairground rides.

A craft fair will be open in Queen’s Hall from 1pm to 5pm and the afternoon will also feature choir performances and a visit from Father Christmas.

The Christmas lights switch-on, funded by the Burley Community Trust, is to be led by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Geoff Reid from Burley Grange at 4.30pm.

BADCOT market co-ordinator Danny Schofield said: “We’re always looking for ways to make our Christmas market special – and what better way than to have some real magic!”
