A CHOIR which rehearses in Burley-in-Wharfedale is looking for new members.

The Fairfax Singers is a mixed voice choir of some 36 members who have been performing a variety of choral music since its foundation in 1996.

The repertoire includes folk songs, spirituals, classical and sacred music, as well as choral items by contemporary composers. Lighter music includes songs from the shows such as Lloyd Webber, Elton John and Queen and the classic 'Golden Oldies' of Gershwin, Cole Porter and Jerome Kern.

The Fairfax Singers have been helping to raise funds for charities for around 17 years. They also sing at weddings and corporate events and have been part of Leeds and Bradford Christmas and Summer celebrations for many years.

Now the Fairfax Singers are looking for new members in all part voices: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Come and join the choir in time for the exciting season ahead, with already lots of bookings for performances in December. Experience the joy of singing and new friendships that being part of a choir will bring. Sightreading is not essential, but would be an advantage.

The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm till 9.30 pm at SS Fisher and More, Bradford Road in Burley in Wharfedale.
