INJURED servicemen and women will be helped with a concert in Otley in October.

All proceeds from the 'tribute to the heroes' will go the the Battle Back Centre, set up by the Royal British Legion to support wounded, injured and sick personnel.

The Royal Air Force Military College of music will perform at the event at Prince Henry's Grammar School on October 15.

The concert, which begins at 7.30pm, will be attended by special guests, including Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkhas along with Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland and Pudsey MP Stuart Andrew.

The event is being staged by Irene Willis who has been organising annual Poppy Appeal concerts for the Royal British Legion for more than a quarter of a century, raising many thousands of pounds.

She paid tribute to the men and women who had been injured serving their country.

"They paid a big price and we should be there to try and give them as much support as possible," she said. "Some of them are in their early 20s and double amputees."

Mrs Willis, who is a member of the Skipton branch of the Royal British Legion, is hoping that people from the Skipton and Ilkley area will attend as well as people from the Otley area.

She said: "Everyone will be most welcome. It is going to be a lovely evening."

Tickets cost £13 and are available on 01943 872148 or 01943 467199.
