A NEW florist in Ben Rhydding called in the Rainbow Morris Dancers from Saltaire to help celebrate the official opening of the shop at 118 Bolling Road on Friday.

Angela Naylor, a local farmer's daughter from Middleton, has been a florist for 12 years, but has now decided to take the plunge and open her own shop.

"My passion is flowers I couldn't be happier sat in my shop with the beautiful colours smells and watching people's faces beam with appreciation and love," said Angela, who has named the shop Floral Dance in honour of the song performed by Terry Wogan with the Rastrick Brass Band.

"The song's influence is taken from the ancient festival flora day which takes place in the small Cornish town Helston. It's the celebration marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring bringing vitality and and fertility, hence children dancing through the streets dressed in white and with flowers in their hair and buttonholes," added Angela, who will also be celebrating the opening of her new shop by teaching a free workshop to members of Outside the Box Cafe in Ilkley on Monday, September 12.

"They will have a go at making their own floral arrangement and having fun which is what flowers should be about - placing a smile on people's faces in good times and bad," she added.
