RENOWNED Ilkley butcher Lishman’s is celebrating its 30th birthday with a mini-festival of food.

Customers, neighbours and residents are being invited to help mark the anniversary on Saturday, from 2pm to 8pm.

The event will include live music along with food, activities for children, a mini beer festival, Slingsby Gin cocktails, coffee and soft drinks.

The Lishman’s barbecue will be complemented by pizza, cake and doughnuts.

Owner, David Lishman, said: "We’re inviting people to help us celebrate all the finest things in life – food, drink, friendship, family and music.

"We first opened our doors in 1986 and I am very proud of what we have achieved during the past 30 years.

"My daughter, Emma, joined Lishman’s last year and brings new passion, ideas, experience and verve to our ever-changing business.

"We’d like to invite people along to help us celebrate 30 years in style. Bring friends and family and we’ll make it a day to remember."

The event takes place in the Lishman’s car park, behind the shop at 25 Leeds Road in Ilkley.

For perhaps the first time ever in a butcher’s car park there will also be ferret roulette, with proceeds from the games going to Bliss, the charity that supports premature and sick babies.

Lishman’s has won numerous awards for products, twice becoming British champion of champions sausage maker and five times Yorkshire champion sausage supremo.

Mr Lishman is a high profile figure. He is one of celebrity TV chef Rick Stein’s Food Heroes and has regularly appeared on television as a meat industry expert and as a judge in the BBC’s Young Butcher of the Year competition.

Lishman's created Yorkshire's very own signature sausage after a four-month campaign involving county-wide public tastings. The recipe is now being used by fellow butchers throughout the UK.
