YOUNG musicians at Benton Park School have raised hundreds of pounds for charity with two concerts.
Year 13 BTEC music students raised £400 for Meningitis Now, with a night of entertainment featuring pupils from years 8 to13 playing styles from rock to jazz.
In a separate event, Benton Park students and the Leeds Youth Jazz and Rock Orchestra conductor, Brendan Duffy, put on a joint performance.b The night of jazz and soul raised £100 for a LYJRO project in South Africa. The project finances a music teacher for pupils in deprived areas.
Benton Park school bands were also successful at the Aireborough Battle of the Acts competition at Guiseley Theatre in June, gaining first and second places.
