AN ILKLEY school has called a meeting with staff and parents next week to discuss its leadership, after admitting working under challenging circumstances for almost six months.

Ben Rhydding Primary School parents have been invited, along with staff and the wider community, to attend a meeting on Wednesday (February 10), to hear options for the future leadership of the school, ask questions and raise any concerns.

Ward councillor and Ben Rhydding resident, Councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) has been invited to chair the meeting at St John's Church Hall, Ben Rhydding, on Wednesday evening.

Chairman of the school's governors, Andrew Rabbitt, said the Bolling Road school had been working under challenging circumstances since September 2015.

He said: "Since September 2015 we have been working under challenging circumstances, with support from Burley Oaks school, on an interim basis.

"We have to make a significant decision about the future permanent leadership of the school, and as a community, I feel that it is important that this decision is made openly and transparently."

Mr Rabbitt said it was intended to provide parents, staff and the wider community with an opportunity to hear the options available, ask questions and share concerns.

He added: "I hope this will be a positive opportunity to engage with the community on this key issue and look forward to welcoming all who wish to attend."

Cllr Hawkesworth said: "It's a lovely community school, and it's a good thing that all parents are involved in the future management."

The meeting will start at 7.30pm.
