AN OSTEOPATHIC practice celebrated its 15th year with an open day and the unveiling of a new community defibrillator.

The Ilkley Osteopthic Practice in Leeds Road held talks and demonstrations at the event on January 23.

The centre's mascot, Steve the Skeleton, cut the ribbon on a new community defibrillator, and all the talks were well attended by people interested in finding out more about osteopathy and their own health.

Local pilates instructor, Sarah Clough, said: "As a Pilates instructor, I found the open day to be invaluable.

"It gave me a real insight into osteopathy, how osteopaths differ from chiropractors and physiotherapists, and just how seamlessly osteopathy fits into what we teach in Pilates. The talks and demonstrations were very informative, and I left feeling it was a real opportunity to see how relevant osteopathy is in helping to maintain a healthy body."

There are now community defibrillators at a number of locations around Ilkley, including Ilkley Golf Club, Ilkley Tennis Club, Ilkley Rugby Club, Ben Rhydding Sports Club, the Clarke Foley Centre, Bettys Cafe Tearooms, Booth's, Ilkley Playhouse, Ilkley Moor Medical Practice and Christchurch.
