ILKLEY Grammar School were thrilled to be involved in this year’s Ilkley in Bloom 2015 Competition where Ilkley received a silver gilt award in the town category.

Yorkshire in Bloom is part of the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign that has been running for over 50 years and its aim is to encourage communities of all sizes to make positive and lasting improvements to their local environment.

The school was singled out for praise due to the dedication and hard work of the members of the Gardening Club who have done such a wonderful job this year in making the front of the school look so colourful.

Anne Sanders and Cath Walsh run the gardening club and attended a presentation tea alongside student Peter Phillips, 14. The school’s gardening club was presented with a cup and a certificate.

Cath Walsh was proud of the school.

She said: "Peter was an excellent ambassador for both the gardening club and the school."
