THE Flying Duck pub in Ilkley has made it into the latest edition of The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide.

The brew pub, home to Wharfedale Brewery and celebrating its second anniversary in November, has made it into the 2016 edition of the nation’s favourite pub guide at the first attempt.

The pub is among five in the Bradford district and 29 in West Yorkshire to included. The Yorkshire region has 391 pubs listed in the guide.

All entries in the Guide are nominated by CAMRA members and vetted by the local branch. The main criteria for inclusion is the quality and range of the draught beer but other factors such as the level of service and the pub’s character and ambiance also play a part in the decision.

The Flying Duck on Church Street, Ilkley offers nine draught real ales including its own award-winning Wharfedale Blonde in addition to a selection of lagers, foreign bottles beers and wines

Nick McNeice, manager of the Flying Duck said: “Inclusion in the new edition of The Good Beer Guide is further recognition of all the hard work put in by the staff in providing our customers with an excellent range of quality beers in a ‘traditional’ Dales pub environment”.

The book’s Editor Roger Protz said: "The Good Beer Guide 2016 is the only comprehensive and totally independent pub guide in the UK. Pubs are selected on their merit alone and CAMRA, as a not-for-profit organisation, are very proud of highlighting pubs chosen by local CAMRA branches across the UK. It is that local knowledge which ensures the pubs listed in the guide are genuinely the best you’ll find in the area."
