FIGURES showing that the economy is continuing to grow are "good news for us all", according to Ilkley MP Kris Hopkins.

Data from the Office for National Statistics reveals that the UK economy grew by 0.7 per cent in the three months to June – 0.3 per cent up on the first quarter of the year.

And economic output is 2.6 per cent higher than in the same period last year.

"The British economy has grown in every quarter for the last two-and-a-half years and all the indications are that this trend will continue for the foreseeable future," said Mr Hopkins.

"Inflation remains at zero per cent and average wages are now rising at more than three per cent, so the gains are being felt by hardworking people and their families.

"But there remains no room for complacency and the hard graft to build on our achievements will go on."
