A MAN was taken to Airedale General Hospital after concerns for his safety sparked an emergency operation on Ilkley Moor on Thursday (July 23).

A National Police Air Service helicopter was among an 'array' of emergency services called to the moor, a West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed, amid concerns about the safety of a man in his 50s.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said there were a number of calls to emergency services, and that a man was taken to the Steeton hospital.
