EVERYTHING from hamsters to heavy horses will feature in next weekend's Otley Show.

This year's event, the 206th, takes place at the Bridge End showground on Saturday, May 16.

The day will, as always, showcase some of the region's most impressive livestock, horses and ponies, poultry and produce.

The 2015 show will also feature dog shows and racing, a birds of prey display, live folk and brass music and a display of American Army Jeeps.

A series of crowd-pleasing attractions have been lined up for the main ring, including - following their impressive exhibition of horseriding tricks last year - the return of the Stampede Stunt Company.

Organisers Wharfedale Agricultural Society, who have been planning the event for the past ten months, are certain the day will be enjoyable for visitors of all ages.

New show chairman Francis Caton said: "I am hoping that, for my first year at the helm of this prestigious event, it will be blessed with glorious weather as it was last year."

Secretary Janet Raw added: "Entries in all sections have flooded in and the showground is packed to capacity with everything from hamsters to heavy horses.

"We’ve had record entries in the Sheep and Cattle sections, which is superb considering that this year's show is as early as it will ever be.

"There will be plenty for everyone to see and do, including donkey rides and a zipwire experience.

"The main attraction, the Stampede Stunt Company, are back by popular demand and this year will be putting on their Magna Carta display, celebrating 800 years since the signing of the document.

"They perform with a blend of acrobatic horsemanship, which is very entertaining and colourful."

New in the main ring this year will be a display by the Highmoor Bloodhounds - Yorkshire's first pack to be bred and trained in a recognised equestrian and hound sport.

They will accompany show regulars the Airedale Beagles.

Dog lovers will also get the chance to cheer for their favourite when Terrier racing is held in the dog arena, while ferret races will feature courtesy of Otley Ferret Welfare.

A new marquee dedicated to the products made and sold by local shops and businesses, organised by Otley Town Partnership, will be included too.

And visitors will be able to enjoy regular attractions like The Sheep Show, Tug o' War competition and Farriers contest, along with an array of trade and charity stalls, games, and spinning and weaving demonstrations.

Otley Sailing Club meanwhile, after a very popular appearance last year, will again by offering to take people out onto the showground lake from 10.30am to have a go at the sport, in return for a small donation.

Show tickets can be bought from many local shops or the show website at a reduced price beforehand, or on the day priced £8 for adults, £6 concessions, or £3 per child.
