Claire Allen - Green Party IT is a great honour to be selected by my party to stand at the General Election.

The Green Party wants to move services to the most local level possible, with local democratic control of planning, schools and spending.

It wants to end the policy of austerity, to improve public transport (not HS2), to bring our health service and other public services back under full public control, to create jobs, to keep an environment fit for our children and grandchildren.

A programme of public spending rescued the economy from a deeper hole after WWII.

We need public spending now to put people into genuine work, and build a society, an economy and an environment worth living in.

Stuart Andrew - Conservative I HAVE been privileged to have served as the MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough.

I have always tried to make myself as accessible as possible through open surgeries.

A huge concern is the protection of the greenbelt, which I will continue to fight for.

I also want to help improve local transport and roads across the constituency.

I will also support the right controls on immigration.

I support local jobs and helping people keep more of the money they earn.

Finally, I want to help deliver the best health services in the area.

With all of that in mind, I hope you will vote for me on May 7.

Ryk Downes - Liberal Democrat I HAVE been a Leeds city councillor for 11 years, and have been chairman of Metro.

I’m married with three grown-up daughters and two grandsons.

I have been senior steward and caretaker of a Methodist church for 20 years.

My hobbies include charity fundraising and ultra-distance running.

If elected I will fight to ensure our NHS is properly funded.

I will fight to protect the greenbelt in our area and ensure any housing requirements are built on brownfield sites.

I will oppose the right-to-buy scheme as it removes social housing without providing enough replacements.

We need more social housing, not less.

I am proud that my party has selected me to stand and look forward to the challenge and the experience that it will bring.

Jamie Hanley - Labour I’VE lived in our area all my life. Gemma and I are raising our two sons here — that’s why I am passionate about our local NHS, schools, green spaces and local businesses.

Local families have been badly let down by the Tory-led Government — we have suffered a school places crisis, an underfunded NHS, and as wages fall prices are rising, making it harder to get by.

This is not the future I want for our community.

We have a responsibility to build a better future for our children.

Send me to Parliament to fight for a better, fairer and greener future.

I hope to be your MP because I want everyone who lives here to have the same and even better opportunities than I did, all as part of a strong and vibrant community.

Roger Tattersall - UKIP ROGER has lived in Guiseley for 11 years.

Originally qualified as an engineer, he now works part-time for the University of Leeds.

In 2006 he raised £246,750 to help buy Yorkshire’s second air ambulance.

He has a strong interest in local issues, including housing, schools, council services, highways and infrastructure.

He said: “People need an alternative to the old parties.

UKIP has put fresh ideas on the table that offer a positive vision for Britain locally and internationally.

Independent voices need to be heard in order to effect change.

With your support we can make that happen.”

With a strong interest in local issues, including housing, schools, council services, highways and infrastructure, Roger intends to be a ‘hands-on’ parliamentarian.
