SIR Bradley Wiggins has been confirmed as one of the stars who will take part in next month’s first ever Tour de Yorkshire.
The 2012 Tour de France winner will lead his own Team Wiggins developmental squad, say organisers.
The Tour de Yorkshire, which begins in Bridlington and finishes in Leeds, is a legacy of the Grand Départ and features Steven Burke, Mark Christian, Andy Tennant, Owain Doull and Jon Dibben in Team Wiggins.
Wiggins himself has won six gold medals at the track world championships. He has also picked up a gold in the individual pursuit at the 2004 Olympic Games and two golds in the individual and team pursuit at the 2008 Olympic Games.
On May 3 the Tour de Yorkshire will be passing through Silsden, Addingham, Ilkley, past the Cow and Calf, Otley and Pool-in-Wharfedale.
ITV4 has announced it will be covering the event.
Presenter Gary Imlach will be joined by cycling legend Chris Boardman for the coverage, with Ned Boulting and former professional road cyclist David Millar also commentating.
