A NEW piece of public lifesaving equipment has been installed in Otley.
An easy-to-use, portable defibrillator has been set up outside Ashfield Primary School following a fundraising campaign.
Local publican and school governor Peter Jackson led the drive to collect the required £1,275, with support from Guiseley-based First Responder Brian Firth - founder of the Global First Aid Society.
Mr Jackson was also helped by Otley Town Council and Otley Lions.
The defibrillator was presented to the school’s retiring headteacher, Sybil Parker.
She said: “Ashfield Primary School is delighted to have a defibrillator for community use.
“We are very grateful to Peter Jackson for his efforts to secure funding.”
Mr Jackson, meanwhile, is continuing to raise funds to buy more defibrillators, which can make a lifesaving difference in treating people who have suffered a cardiac arrest, around town.
