A COMMUNITY library is set to spend hundreds of pounds on books after re-ceiving a grant from a councillor.
The independently-run Rawdon Community Library has been given £475 to be spent on new books and bindings.
The funding has come from Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Paul Wadsworth out of a pot of money to help groups that contribute positively to the local community.
The library has been independent since September 2013 after supporters volunteered their time to keep it running for the benefit of the community when it was threatened with closure by Leeds City Council. It is now run entirely by volunteers and offers a range of activities in addition to the lending library.
Cllr Wadsworth said: “I am delighted to support Rawdon Community Library with this money.
“The library is a shining example of what can be done when people come together to provide services, like libraries, that really help to bind communities together.”
