GREEN Party candidates will be standing for every Otley Town Council ward this year.

The party’s Otley & Yeadon branch has announced the move, a first in its history, on the back of a surge in national support. Its candidates in May will include Amy Wilson in Manor and Cath Harrison in West Chevin, who said: “People want a fresh voice in local politics with new, positive ideas.”

Mick Bradley is standing in the Danefield ward and says people are “fed up with the lack of an alternative to more austerity”.

New member Josh Sutton is vying for the Ashfield seat. The Prince Henry ward candidate is Sue Stepan and the party’s candidate for Leeds North West is Tim Goodall.

The Green Party has enjoyed a four-fold rise in membership in the past year to more than 56,000.
