OTLEY residents are being invited to say who they think should become a new Honorary Citizen.

Nomination letters for the honour, which goes to individuals who have provided outstanding service to the town, should reach the Town Council by noon on Friday, March 13.

Otley Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Gill (Lab, Manor) is asking everyone who knows somebody worthy of the title to put their name forward. He said: “Honorary Citizenship is the highest acknowledgement that the town can give to those who have performed exceptional, committed service to the community for a period of many years.

“The list of Honorary Citizens is distinguished and only those who have provided exemplary service achieve such status.”

Send nominations, in the form of a supporting letter to: The Executive Officer, Otley Town Council, Otley Core Resource Centre, Unit 11, Orchard Gate, Otley, LS21 3NX. For details call (01943) 466335 or e-mail: eo@otleytowncouncil.gov.uk.
