A TAXI carrying a patient home from hospital was in collision with a parked car, ramming it into the back of a skip.
The accident happened at about 12.50pm on Saturday in Grove Road, Ilkley.
No-one was injured but the road remained closed for most of the afternoon and the parked car, owned by Paul Anning, was a write-off.
Mr Anning, of Grove Road, and owner of Annings camera shop in the town, said: “I am very upset – it has been my baby for 19 years.”
He said the taxi was travelling up Grove Road carrying a patient home from hospital where they had been undergoing dialysis.
“The car was taken away yesterday and is a write-off.”
Police attended the accident. No one has been charged with any driving offence. Mr Anning said he had exchanged details with the taxi driver.
The scene was captured on camera by Grove Road resident and photographer Simon Wilkinson who said he believed Ilkley’s parking problems contributed to the crash.
He said: “The accident that has been waiting to happen has happened – lucky nobody was injured. There are double parking issues opposite the terraces at the start of Grove Road. It was lucky nobody was walking past on a busy Saturday afternoon.”
