THE Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Mike Gibbons, joined other civic dignitaries and uniformed organisations at the well-attended Service of Remembrance in Ilkley on Sunday.

The traditional parade gathered on Whitton Croft Road, behind Ilkley Town Hall, and walked along The Grove to the Memorial Gardens for the service at 3pm, followed by the wreath-laying ceremony.

Cubs, Brownies, Guides and Scouts joined the congregation and civic dignitaries at St Peter’s Church in Addingham on Sunday morning, along with the local Air Training Corps band, which played the Last Post at 11am.

The names on the two war memorials in church were read out. The parade then left the church for the village war memorial, for the laying of wreaths and another short service.

The Rev Tim Perkins led the Service of Remembrance at Burley Methodist Church. People packed into the church, including almost 100 young people from uniformed organisations, as well as Wharfedale ATC cadets.
