MORE than 20 schools attended the opening event of the Wharfedale Cross Country League at Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
Sponsored by Dacre, Son and Hartley, the event saw more than 500 children taking part in 14 races around the Ghyll Royd School grounds.
The children were supported by hundreds of competitors who also enjoyed the event. The mild weather and sunshine made for some excellent running conditions with KS1 children following an old Ghyll Royd pupil as the hare.
There were many excellent individual performances in all races. Ghyll Royd as the hosts were delighted to welcome home three first places and and a third place, three of which were from one family. Congratulations to the Marlow family for first place reception girls, third place year two boys and first place year four boys.
