A YOUNG rider will compete for a national horse showing title this autumn after winning her class and being named reserve section champion at the prestigious Great Yorkshire Show.

Ten-year-old Tabitha Wood, fromBurley-in-Wharfedale was absolutely thrilled to win her class at the show on her Welsh pony Thistledown Livius.

It was Tabitha's first time competing at the three day county show, held at Harrogate.

And after winning her class, for native ponies with riders aged 12 and under, she went on to win reserve champion of her section.

She said: "It's so special to win at the Yorkshire, it has been my dream to even compete there."

Tabitha and her dapple grey pony, who is known as Fraggle at home, will be competing against 21 other riders for the national title at the Horse of the Year show at Birmingham's NEC in October.
