ILKLEY Summer Festival goes continental this weekend, as the ever-popular three day street market makes its return to The Grove.

Foodies can sample treats from across Europe, and beyond, browse the many stalls, and enjoy street entertainment, as the major shopping street turns into a marketplace from tomorrow (Friday August 8) to Sunday.

Organisers are hoping the traditional British summer rain holds off for the weekend, which is expected to see crowds pack into the town centre.

Various bands will be performing at the bandstand on The Grove on all three days of the market.

But there will be further festival events taking place in the week ahead, in the build to a spectacular weekend of music and entertainment, again on The Grove, on August 16 and 17.

Three heritage guided walks will take place over the next week.

Memorial Avenue in Ilkley Cemetery will be the focus of a walk on Sunday (August 10). Walkers should meet at the Beanlands Parade gates at 2pm.

Prehistoric Ilkley Moor will be the subject of a walk on Wednesday August 13, setting off from the Cow and Calf car park at 2pm. Another walk, setting off from the Manor House Museum, Castle Yard, at 7pm on the same day, will look at the Middleton Estate.

This Sunday (August 10), artists Joy Godfrey, Chris Bailey and Ken Jacquiery will open their art studios to the public, on Back Nelson Road, from 2pm to 4.30pm.

The Dolce Vita Weekend will come to The Grove on August 16 and 17. Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bs., suported by Tre Tenori, will perform on Saturday evening, while families are invited to bring along picnics the following day to enjoy e performance by tribute artists Take That 2 ans Robbie.
