THOUSANDS of people turned out to enjoy a sun-kissed 2014 Weeton Show.

The volunteer organisers laid on everything from traditional livestock, horse and produce displays to Punch and Judy shows and dry stone walling demonstrations for the annual event.

Ferret racing, craft stalls, showjumping, live music and a new Dog and Duck Show also went down well with the large crowds, with younger visitors enjoying the children's activity tents and bouncy castles.

And the runners in the 7 kilometre Rougemont Chase, a cross-country contest that takes in the ruins of Rougemont Castle, were cheered on enthusiastically.

Weeton Show committee press officer Andrew Dyson said: "This year's show was a great success with more than 3,000 people coming through the gates to enjoy a packed day of entertainment.

"Last year's show was one of our most successful ever, so the challenge was to deliver an even more fun-filled, action packed day."

Profits from the day, which was preceded in time-honoured fashion on the Friday beforehand with the Weeton Show Hog Roast, will be shared with Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the event's chosen charity for 2014.
