ILKLEY Grammar School Leavers’ Ball saw the usual influx of ball gowns, tuxedos and strange methods of transport as the year 11 students headed to The Craigland’s Hotel to celebrate their final exam and for some the end of their school career.

Vintage buses, VW camper vans, limos and Hummers were just some of the vehicles delivering the students to the Craiglands.

Lots of people took advantage of the fantastic weather to walk to the event and many parents made the most of the sunshine to watch their sons and daughters arrive at the ball.

The students partied the night away enjoying a band and disco and were impeccably behaved and beautifully turned out, including with some of the highest heels ever seen!

The ball has taken place at The Craiglands for many years now and is a momentous evening for all concerned.

Ian Swain, Key Stage leader, said: "Our Year 11 logo for the year has been ‘2014 Amazing’ and that sums up the night: they were all amazing. The students were very sociable with staff and students alike. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to say goodbye and also thank you to many of their teachers."
