TEN-year-old Tabitha Wood, of Burley-in-Wharfedale, is celebrating after winning four piano classes and subsequently being awarded two prizes - the Ashbrook Memorial Trophy, and the Kitching Memorial prize, a cheque for £50 - at the Wharfedale Festival of Speech and Drama for the most promising young pianist under 12.

Tabitha won the ten and under class, the fourteen and under class, the ten and under duet and the ten and under trio at the festival. She was invited to pay at the Celebration Concert at Christchurch earlier this month and played Allegro in G by Mozart . She was given her prizes by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Roger Whittaker at that concert.

Tabitha attends Giggleswick school where she recently won the Giggleswick Young Musician of the Year for the second year running. She loves piano, and plays the cello and sings as well.

She has had an exciting month as she has qualified her little dapple grey Welsh pony for both the Royal International horse show at Hickstead next month and the Horse of the Year Show at the NEC in October.
