RUMOURS were rife that David Beckham was in Ilkley yesterday.
However, despite much speculation that the former footballer was in town it seems no one managed to snatch a photo.
Ilkley Gazette staff scoured town and checked out all possible sightings - the most talked about that he was dining in Bettys on The Grove - but failed to catch a glimpse of David or his wife Victoria, in the week they are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary.
A phone call to the Gazette office from a credible source even suggested that David and Victoria were being accompanied by Hollywood A lister Brad Pitt, but again, the claim remains unsubstantiated.
Postings on social media suggested the couple had booked into the Devonshire Arms and had also enjoyed trips out to Harrogate and Leeds.
