Children braved atrocious weather to stage their own mini Tour de France.

Pupils at Rawdon Littlemoor Primary got on their bikes in pouring rain to compete in a series of cycling challenges.

More than 200 youngsters - almost two thirds of those at the school - brought their bikes in to take part in the event which included tests of speed, skill and determination.

Headteacher Shelagh Henderson said the school usually staged a baseball competition with children split into four teams, but had decided to change plans for this year.

"Because it is the Tour de France and it is going to Yorkshire we thought it would be nice to do our own little Tour de France, she said.

"It was a great day - despite the weather which was atrocious."
