A fun-packed day for all the family is being promised at this year's Arthington Show.

The 97th Arthington, Bramhope, Pool and District Horticultural and Agricultural Society Show, to give it its full title, will take place at Pool-in-Wharfedale on Sunday, June 29.

As always there will be display classes featuring horses and ponies, sheep, cattle, shire horses, produce, arts and crafts, show jumping and more.

Visitors to the showfield, by Pool Bridge, can also look forward to children's races, a dog show, a fancy dress competition, a ferret display, alpacas, and a gymkhana - as well as stalls and games.

Attractions in the main ring this year will include Cyril The Squirrel, a falconry display, and a Paralympic dressage demonstration, while the organisers have also laid on donkey rides and a children's circus skills workshop, a gun dog scurry, and spinning and weaving demonstrations.

Show secretary Karen Lewis said: "This year the show promises to be an exciting and fun packed day for all the family, with lots of activities.

"We hope people will come along and enjoy the day."

Free car parking will be available while admission costs £6 for adults, £3 for children under 16 and senior citizens, or £15 for a family of two adults with up to three children aged under 14.
