The ladies of the Dales and Bronte Group of Farm Stay UK are set to stage another charity afternoon tea – this time with a dual Yorkshire and Tour De France twist.

It will take place on Wednesday, June 11, at Liz and Karl Gudgeon’s Crown Cottage Farm in Pasture Road, Embsay, Skipton, which is a member of the national group of on-farm accommodation providers.

It follows the success of a similar Yorkshire Champagne afternoon tea hosted last summer by fellow Farm Stay members Lisa and Marcus Preston at Pickersgill Manor Farm, Silsden.

The ladies will again be serving up an afternoon tea with added fizz, also featuring Paris-Brest and Curd Tart, traditional sandwiches and scones, and Yorkshire tea.

Liz Gudgeon’s mother, Christine Clarkson, of Carleton, and members of her “knit and natter” ladies group have been busy making mini Tour De France jerseys – 180 in total – to enhance the atmosphere on the day. Some will be given to the local playgroup in Embsay, while others will be available to buy to boost the charity kitty.

Proceeds are in aid of the Addington Fund, a national aid organisation that helps maintain the economic and social fabric of UK farming communities.

Farm Stay’s Dales and Bronte Group has collected thousands of pounds for Addington through charity fundraisers over the years. Money raised will be used to support farming families. The Tour De France afternoon tea will run from 2.30 to 4.30pm, with tickets costing £15. Call Liz Gudgeon on (01756) 794618, or e-mail e.gudgeon@sky.com for tickets.
