Aireborough Camera Club is organising a photographic competition, which will be open to all non-professional photographers of any age.

The subject of the competition is My Aireborough, identifiable as local events, places or people.

There will be three competition sections: Primary (up to and including 11 years), Secondary (12 to and including 18 years) and Adults (19 years and above).

A spokesman for the club said: “Our aim is to involve the whole of the Aireborough community. This includes all residents, all schools, local companies and visitors.

“We aim to make them more aware of and take a much more personal interest in the area in which they live and/or work, the places, the events and the people around them, thus engendering greater care and consideration for their community.”

Details and entry forms are available on the website aireboroughcameraclub.co.uk.

The competition is being sponsored by Aireborough Neighbourhood Forum and Aireborough Rotary. There is no entry fee and there will be a prize of £25 for the image judged first in each section, plus a year’s free membership for the creators of the first three images in the secondary and adult sections.

Aireborough Rotary is also giving a £25 prize to the image that best promotes the work of Rotary in Aireborough.

The competition is being launched on June 1, with September 30 as the final date on which entries will be accepted. Winners will be notified in November and the presentations in December.
