Full details have been released about a riverside Tour de France campsite in Pool-in-Wharfedale.

About 150 pitches will be available for cycling fans at Crag View Camping which, being based beside the bridge just off the A658, stands very close to the route the Tour riders will take on Saturday, July 5.

The site is being run by Pool Cricket Club, Pool Athletic Football Club, and Pool Sports and Social Club and occupies an area that stretches down to the River Wharfe and is currently used for football and practice.

Restricted to camper vans and tents – no caravans – the campsite will include food stalls selling hog roast, fish and chips, burgers and breakfast butties along with toilet and shower facilities.

All guests will also be made temporary members of Pool Sports and Social Club, which runs a bar with soft drinks, during their stay and entertainment will be laid on at Pool Cricket Club on the Friday and Saturday evening of the Grand Depart weekend.

Access to the site, which also offers extra parking spaces for visitors, will be through the gate opposite the Shell garage. More details at cragviewcamping.co.uk.
